ʎonqʎʇıɔ is online.

Hey! So, you gonna write something new today?

Uh, yeah. Trying to but the words don’t wanna come out.

What’s it gonna be about?

This thing I thought about.

Duh. Like, srsly what’s it gonna be about?

I was thinking of how we cope with…

(interrupting) Death? Oh, I so love it!

No, I meant how we cope with…

(interrupting) Loss? Oh, I’ll tweet all about it!

Yeah, loss.

(awkward silence) So…

Yeah?

Where is it?

Where’s what?

The story? When’re you posting it? Oh, I bet it’ll fetch a gazillion comments.

Hmm… I don’t know. It’s stuck in there.

Can I see it?

Sure. (opens brain, comes closer to webcam)

Oh… it doesn’t look that nice.

Really?

Yeah, I feel like I’ve seen that before. Like in a movie or something.

You did? (sounds confused) I’m sorry.

Doesn’t matter. I’m still gonna love it.

Okay.

ʎonqʎʇıɔ is offline.

ʎonqʎʇıɔ is online.

Hey, where’d you go?

Sorry, I got a glass of water.

Is it cold? Like the night that doesn’t want to forget?

Hmm. No.

Why not?

My throat’s soar.

You mean it’s sore.

Yeah. That’s what I said.

Like the pain in the middle of your chest? The void you can’t seem to explain?

No. Like I’ve had too many cigarettes and not enough water.

Oh. Okay. (uneasy) So, where’s the story? How does it start?

A woman is dancing. She’s wearing old clothes. I think she’s…

(interrupting) reliving her past? Escaping from the terror of an abusive husband? I LOVE IT! POST IT RIGHT NOWWW!!!

No, not exactly. And I can’t.

Why not?

Because I don’t know how it ends.

Just say something clever like She could wear the old clothes but it would never be like it was before. He had broken her far beyond repair. I LOVE IT!@

Okay.

(long silence)

So, where is it?

I can’t write it.

Why not?

Because I hate it.

Why?

Because no one will read it. Because it’s not new. It doesn’t sound like me. It doesn’t have the littlest part of me.

And that would be strange because? All your posts in the last two years have been like that.

I know.

When was the last time you wrote something because you wanted to? When did you become such an attention whore?

I’m not gonna even dignify that with a…

(interrupting) It’s almost like you spin one of those roletas on TV. What’s it gonna be today, citybuoy? (mocking) What’re you going to write about? Love? Sorrow? Work shit? Family issues? Money issues? Blogging issues? If you think about it, you have more issues than The Inquirer.

Fuck you.

You know it’s true.

(silence)

I mean, what’s the point? Why do you even try so hard to write when no one’s even gonna remember it?

That’s not true. I’m sure they’ll remember it.

I bet it’ll only take five minutes before they’ve forgotten all about that story you worked so hard on. Five minutes.

That can’t be true. They say they love it. They say they can relate.

They say that all the time. You say that all the frigging time. You’re not changing any lives with your work, citybuoy. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

(silence) So, what do you want me to do?

You remember that picture I took of you?

The one where I had a wig on?

Yeah. That one. Post it.

I can’t. I look terrible in that shot. Like a na’vi in grayscale.

Post it. I’ll bet you they won’t even read the post. They’ll just comment on the picture.

But I can’t post that picture. That was just for us. It was a joke.

Don’t explain. Just do it.

Fine. (sulking) Let me look for it. (…) Okay, got it. Now what?

Post it.

Now?

Uh huh.

Okay.

  87. 100 GENERIC COMMENTS. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW, ʎonqʎʇıɔ?

    ReplyDelete
  88. i liked how you coloured this with chaos.

    ReplyDelete
  89. parang ako yung isa sa mga 100 comments ah.haha I didn't know it sounded so generic.haha I must say this post differs from the others, sometimes kasi people tend to shove their ideas into people and the poor writer just tends to follow what he thinks his readers want to read.

    ReplyDelete
  90. btw, you're my new myx channel.haha :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Whoa, even the comments are part of the Literature. Nice!

    ReplyDelete
  92. 1. now i can copy any one of these comments for when i go bloghopping. joke!

    2. hmm... should i leave any comment at all? might fall into one of these generic ones haha!

    3. i actually enjoy reading the comments section of different blogs and usually come back for the blogger's response. so for me this piece is really interesting. was reading this early this morning and kept on refreshing the page haha!

    ReplyDelete
  93. @Alter: Ang funny nga (or maybe I was just projecting my own shit sa mga nababasa ko) but I thought this post and your Alter+ one was parallel. Maybe even bloggers get tired of blogging.

@RJ: That's so spot on. Minsan kasi, you stop writing what you want and favor what you think others will read.

And how did you like today's selection? It's an unconventional song from an album with a ridiculous story. Fun lang.

@Will: Thanks Will. It's nothing new though. A few bloggers have done it in the past.

@Sean: Exactly! Fun diba! We should make a script that randomly draws a generic comment. Should be useful.

And yeah, LOF and I were discussing it on FB and I think this post would scare away most people. I'm glad it didn't scare you guys away.

You saw me making it? Haha I got tired na nga after some time. Comment 70-80 was just me rehashing other stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  94. but you do know, jesus is lord.

  95. @Anonymous: You're back! What a fitting message this Sunday afternoon. lol

    ReplyDelete
  96. @Anonymous: Thank you! My goal is to answer all comments in this post with a sunny disposition. lol

    ReplyDelete
  97. Okay, so maybe not all of them. Haha

Or I could go generic with Hey Anonymouses (Anonymi?) Thanks for dropping by! lol

    ReplyDelete
  98. lol, just don't post 97 times.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @LOF: I don't think I have the energy/stamina to do it anyway. lol I think I may have developed carpal tunnel syndrome from last night's craziness.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I could write something long because I get it. But guess what, Nyl. I don't. I suppose this was an extension of your brilliant Story story, where the unwritten story was this angry half naked chick. I love chat transcripts as much as the next bored homo, but I only read them when I am involved. I suppose I could have stopped halfway, but this had something in it. I reckon I got it.

The comments bit was cute, but I'm not a fan.

    Muahness from Pasig Citehh!

    ReplyDelete
  101. @Momel: Thank you for your honesty. I guess you could say this is partially connected to my last post but I don't think I'm fighting stories anymore. I'm at war with myself. lol

    ReplyDelete
  102. i got scared. is that a bad thing? :P

    ReplyDelete
  103. @Eric: Oh noez! Di naman. I think a part of me wanted that. Is that bad?

    ReplyDelete
  104. no idea. pero kinilabutan ako that's for sure. i mean for a sec i really thought there were anonymous people commenting or like there was someone messing with you, but then hindi naman pala --ansaya, nagkakagulo lang. :))

    ReplyDelete
  105. Yeah, you mentioned nga in that comment on your blog.

In all fairness, I wasn't alone. LOF joined in on the fun.

    ReplyDelete
  106. i'm so loving the new experiment... kung experiment nga ito...

    I miss u!

  108. deviant literature :)

"When was the last time you wrote something that was just for you?"

the last line kinda makes me feel this has something to do with you winning the blog awards, there is the feeling that you need to top it all up because you hold the prestige, when all you ever wanted is to get rid of all the emotions and chaos through writing... i don't know.. maybe it's just me... coz i've been feeling the same lately...

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yeah I saw you makin them haha. I couldn't squeeze a comment in because there were so many updates haha. When I finally typed a suggested generic comment, it didn't take. Somehow there was something wrong with the validation code. Or maybe it was just me typing the code in my phone in bed at the wee hours of the morning hehe. Had to go back in after I woke up :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. this post will most definitely be one of your many posts that will stick to my mind =D

para itong mahabang safeguard commercial. usapang konsensya. :p

    ReplyDelete
  111. A few of the comments reminded me of 'The Goldfish Pool and Other Stories'.

It seems you have a lot of Anonymuses. See what I did there? :)

    (nakakaguilty si 02026 :|)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Nakkkk so this is a true story? So sweet, that last line. And you do not look anywhere near a na'vi! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  113. This entry confuses me BIG TIME.(generic lol)

Kidding aside, I wanted to say this -- I think you feel something (I couldn't put this "something" into words) toward this 'blogosphere' and how the bloggers 'live and interact' in this world.

    Ayun lang.

I'm quite curious, Nyl. What's the relevance of 00:20:26 in this entry? :p

    ReplyDelete
  114. @Ro Anne: Hey! Welcome to my blog. I've heard so much about you from Andy and the gang.

And what you said explains it perfectly. Parang I don't know if I can write pa. My last three real posts have been about not being able to write fully and it seems to keep getting worse. I guess I just don't want to disappoint when all I ever wanted was to just write how I feel.

Thank you for understanding. And for both our sakes, I hope we conquer this feeling soon.

@Sean: Maybe. Would've been fun if you had joined the party. Line of Flight seemed to have a good time. lol

@Lee: I notice you're into the weird concept posts. Thanks for dropping by. At oo, napabili ako ng safeguard kanina. lol

@Spiral: *googling* Oooh, it's from my namesake. I can't seem to find a readable copy. I wonder what it's about.

@CC: It's sort of a true story. lol And I don't look like a na'vi? Darn it. haha

@Ronnie: Maybe. I've never really been very vocal about it, at least not online but we bloggers have some weird ass rules. lol

But I have nothing against it. I have nothing against anyone. I guess I just miss the times when blogging was easy for me. This post is suicide, I know but maybe I need it to wake me up.

And as for the title (wow, ikaw lang nagtanong) I timed myself while I was writing. Minus the 100 generic comments and the editing, that's the time I got. When it was time to make the title, I felt it was pretty appropriate to make it just as thoughtless as the post. lol Suicide, right?

    ReplyDelete
  115. nyl, teka. nanibago at naguluhan haha.

siguro kulang lang yan sa bakasyon =)

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Ahmer: Hey Ahmer! I was thinking about you kanina. Kamukha mo si Jay Chou sa Green Hornet. lol Namiss ko tuloy kayo. Parang this weekend lang tayo di nagkita.

Pwede rin namang kinuklang.. Nabitin lang ata ako!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Nalito ako with all the anon comments. @_@

I think it's okay to explore on an old topic. Kasi, when you explore an old topic, you can use some elements of that topic (i.e., love) and maybe combine it with some other topic -- parang Doodle God lang. Reinvent daw. :)

Chos! You just need to drink some Four Loko, and everything comes into place. Teehee.

    ReplyDelete
  118. creative writing talaga ever :) this is great. kausap mo yung mga brain cells mo noh? hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  119. You've taken the notion of being an "attention whore" to a whole (hole?) new level! lol... Funny s**t!

By the way: Re: your mention of Jewel's song on my recent pointless silly post reminded me of her book of poetry "Night Without Armor". I particularly liked her poems titled "camouflage" and "spoiled", in case you ever get around to checking it out.

Amazon.com Review says in so many words that she won't be raining on anybody's "...hit parade of serious poets who write for regular people." Then again, "serious" poets, whatever the fk that is, don't write for "regular" people, whoever they are. (me?)

Fun post! And the "comments" made me laugh out loud!

    Rick

    ReplyDelete
  122. i love it. i seriously do. you continue to push yourself to the limits and i admire you for that. you never fail to surprise, amaze, amuse and sometimes make us cry. you are such a genius nyl.

btw, your works change lives. trust me. it does.

    ReplyDelete
  123. @Rei: Doodle God? *googling* sorry, hanggang solitaire lang alam ko.

Wow, nakakaadik siya! haha (shit, malalate na ako for work)

And what is this Four Loko? It sounds like a particularly strong drink. ;p

@Nowitzki: Sort of. It's partly me but it's also a warped version of how I imagine people feel when they read me. I don't really know what I'm talking about. I was kinda drunk when I wrote this.

    @R. Burnett Baker: You're back!

I'm a pretty big Jewel fan so yeah, I totally understand what you mean. Yeah, she'll never be a serious poet but I don't think that's what she was aiming for anyway. She's for regular folk like me. ;) and I forgive her for the mess that was 0304.

@Key: I think I needed it. I can't breathe in my own space anymore. I don't know. Maybe it's what Roanne said. That's exactly how I feel.

@Brent: That's good. Good for you, Brent.

@Rei: Thanks Rei! I'm a little surprised you and Key aren't in perfect harmony today.

  124. This one's crazy Nyl, been reading this since yesterday and the chaos in comments is confusing my brain cells. Lol.

I am not sure if this is a result of your creativity or maybe something's wrong. I will appreciate if it is the creativity but if it is the other way around, someone's here to listen. :)

    Fine! Mine's generic! Hehehe...

    ReplyDelete
  125. i agree with Louie, this is something crazy that confused my brain cells as well.. with the anon comments,, ahahaha...

i liked the way it was written, it tends to speak for yourself, it shows your love on the things you do..

    clap clap clap...

    ReplyDelete
  126. write for yourself. although you're just too good to pass up. when i said before that i will always read you, i meant it. i really do. except for the "anonymous comments". had to skip that after a few. no pressure though. write as if it's just for yourself. and whenever you're ready. and as for making an impact on others well i started my journal inspired by you. to write down and hopefully rid of my emotions ( not as good as you. and that is an understatement.) although i write mostly for myself, eventually mustered enough courage to open it up partly because of you. again, no pressure. as you said " we all need to talk to ourselves every now and then". and "what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. cheers to surviving". too long, sorry =)

  127. I shared a link on your fb wall. Enjoy Smoke and Mirrors! :D

  131. am freaking learning a lot from you! thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  132. @Louie: Don't be silly. I'm just a little crazy.

I guess it's a little bit of both. Maybe I need a little time away, change my template again. But definitely, something needs to be done.

And don't worry. With you, it's never generic. naks

@Ceiboh: Well, it is something I love. Minsan lang, nakakapagod pag immersed ka masyado. Salamat sa kind words. :)

    @Mark: Not hidden anymore? lol

And that's the sweetest thing I've heard all day. It's funny how I would've never known. Thanks. Natuwa talaga ako.

@Spiral: Yeah, I saw it. Thanks!

@Korki: Nothing much. The moon. Y tu?

@Arian, Kiko and Tim: Thanks pohz! Jeje

  133. OMG. As of now, 149 comments...

Nga pala, I saw 2010 PBA Best Literary Blog Winner walking along the cemetery last week, early evening... Nasa jeep ako nun eh hindi kita natawag ang bilis ng mga pangyayari...

Akala ko transcript ito ng mga nasty chat mo with some friends...

    ReplyDelete
  134. @Glentot: Tanga. That wasn't me. haha Or if it was, wala ako sa sementeryo to hunt for dinner. As in hindi talaga ako yun. *big eyes*

And I don't have nasty chat with my friends. We only talk about rainbows, butterflies, etc.

  135. For the record, I am disturbed by this post, but I think that is the point. It is difficult not to seek approval from other people, and as bloggers, I think we are slightly wired to need positive feedback.

But if one could let go of that need, even for a moment, then I think one could begin writing without fear.

    ReplyDelete
  136. CB,

Ok, I can relate somehow at this entry but not exactly disturbed because I don't know you, I mean I know you only through your blogs. Pero syempre as always you never fail to entertain us :)

Anyways, I just like to take note of anonymous comments, kinda annoys me. Hehe.

  137. i am really enjoying the non-anon comments, cb. its an experiment using shame to strip away stock-commenting and half of them seem to be projecting their anxiety onto you. hahaha. very clever.

    ReplyDelete
  138. nyl, you're crazy/awesome to have thought of this. :)

    ReplyDelete
  139. Fresh!

This is why I've tried to keep my blog from friends. It worked the other way around. I've gained new friends because of it.

Here's to talking to ourselves (out loud).

    ReplyDelete
  140. @Manech: It's not easy to let go though. At least without tracing back to your original purpose for blogging.

@Cio: Yeah, I noticed you get a lot of those in your blog. Oh well.

@LOF: =)) It's kinda mean. I think if I didn't write this, I'd think the blogger's gone cuckoo. But it did eliminate the stock comments, not that there's anything wrong with them.

    Blog on! lol

@Aris: Thanks! Blame it on me crazies. haha

@James: Yay! haha the same thing happened to me. I didn't want anyone in my real world to know about my blog but then for a time, this world became bigger. haha

    ReplyDelete
  141. Nyl, naku. How funny, I am planning to write something about the same topic (but different point of entry).

Hahaha. I bet you this sort of hits the eye with a lot of bloggers.

I remember we had a talk about comments before. Anyway, na miss kita. Let us drink, and you owe a dance at a club.

    Kane

    ReplyDelete
  142. just write :) don't be SO critic, ok?

    ReplyDelete
  143. @Kane: I'm a little afraid of the conversations that don't appear in this comment box. Maybe people are starting to resent me now. *oops*

Yes, we should totally hang out. We can get that drink but the club dance, haha

    @Hero: Welcome to my blog!

  149. @Aleck: Why thank you, Ms. Bovick! I'm honored that you read my blog. My friend Glenn is sooooo in love with your song "Gusto Ko Ang Nota." He would really appreciate that.
